Training Diary
Week Ending 1 November 2009
Time out there: 23 hours; Mileage for the week: 376km
This week was slightly easier in terms of mileage. However, the key focus was getting in two big key sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
Week Ending 25 October 2009
Time out there: 23 hours; Mileage for the week: 402km
Another solid week down, managing to cram in two mammoth sessions on the weekend.
Week Ending 18 October 2009
Time out there: 20.25 hours; Mileage for the week: 390km
I increased my mileage marginally again this week. The focus was on swimming consistently, and getting in a few more bike miles.
Week Ending 11 October 2009
Time out there: 18.75 hours; Mileage for the week: 348km
With a bit of confidence built up from last week, and a new program mapping out my Ultraman campaign, I dived head first (literally) into the next 8 week training block.
Week Ending 4 October 2009
Time out there: 16 hours; Mileage for the week: 323km
My first week back of semi-decent training. I am trying to ease back into the running and so far am sticking to less than an hour and only every second day.
Week Ending 30 August 2009
Time on feet: 2 hours; Mileage for the week: 20km
Another week of rehab down. The tendons seem to be getting better, and I have been able to run up to 45 minutes.
Week Ending 23 August 2009
Time on feet: 0.5 hours; Mileage for the week: 5km
This has undoubtedly been the most frustrating week of my life. After my injury on Sunday the previous week, I was reduced to rest and recovery for the entire week.
Week Ending 16 August 2009
Time on feet: 17 hours; Mileage for the week: 166km
I pulled up a lot better after the Herberton 8 hour race than I did for the Paluma Push. I think it must have been due to the amount of recovery time between each flog fest.
Week Ending 9 August 2009
Time on feet: 12 hours; Mileage for the week: 122km
Due to a day trip for work to Port Moresby on Thursday, and the Herberton 8 hour Mountain Bike Race on Sunday, I decided to make this an easier week. Less total volume, and because of time constraints, a shorter long run.
Week Ending 2 August 2009
Time on feet: 16 hours; Mileage for the week: 184km
This was a good week of running. I managed 3 barefoot sessions all with some form of speedwork in them. It is amazing how running barefoot feels so much faster. There is a tendancy to accentuate your running style and focus on form when running barefoot. It feels pure and free. Although to clarify, my barefoot running is all done in a pair of Vibram Five Fingers. I tried pure barefoot last year, and literally ran the soles off my feet.
